All-on-4 step by step in Colombia

All-on-4-step-by-step

It can be scary to have dental implants placed for the first time.

This fear is likely due in large part to the uncertainty.

Here is the procedure step by step to follow to obtain All-On-4 dental implants in our dental office in Cartagena, Colombia.

FIRST TRIP

The first visit

  • Consultation to better determine your intentions and get to know each other.
  • A 3D cone beam x-ray is required to guide our dentist for the insertion of the implants and to see if a bone graft or sinus elevation may be necessary.
  • If you have teeth to be extracted, they will be removed the same day before the insertion of the implants.
  • Discussion regarding the work plan.
  • Impression for the provisional prosthesis.

The second visit

  • Local anesthesia.
  • Tooth extraction, if necessary.
  • Bone graft or sinus lift, if necessary.
  • Start the process of implanting the four or six titanium screws into your jaw.
  • Placement of implants with cap.
  • Our dentist thoroughly cleans the surgery areas and makes stitches at all incisions.
  • Painkillers and antibiotics will be prescribed to you.
  • When you return to your hotel after your operation, you should do nothing that could affect sensitive areas. Do not rinse or touch the surgical areas.
  • It is important to keep your mouth as clean as possible.
  • Twenty-four hours after surgery, if the bleeding is minimal, you can rinse your mouth gently with salt water. Just mix a tablespoon of salt with about eight ounces of water and rinse gently to allow the water to drain from your mouth into the sink. You can do this 2-3 times a day.

The third visit

  • A temporary prosthesis will be fixed when the healing is complete and no swelling is present.
  • Things you should not do for a week include bending down, lifting heavy objects, or doing strenuous activities, as this could lead to more bleeding and swelling.
  • Likewise, when you go from a lying position to a standing position, it is better to do it slowly. Otherwise, you may feel dizzy. If you exercise, avoid doing it for the first week after surgery.
  • Once the temporary prosthesis is installed, a period of 3 to 6 months is necessary so that the implants are well integrated into the bone.
  • It is important during the integration period, to maintain your regular feeding and chewing functions and to eat soft.
